Identity for AI agents: governing the workforce you didn't hire
AI agents act on behalf of people and systems, and they carry credentials of their own. Stephen explains why non-human identity has become the front line of AI security, what governed identity for agents looks like in practice, and which controls are worth building before agents scale rather than after.

Kill switches and guardrails: governing AI before it scales
Boards and executive teams are approving AI programs whose risks are still taking shape. Stephen offers practical questions for leaders to ask: where AI is already in use, including shadow AI; who is accountable for it; and which controls, such as the ability to stop an agent, need to exist before scale rather than after an incident.

Security people actually adopt
When Stanley Black & Decker extended digital identity to more than 30,000 frontline workers, the answer was passwordless sign-in and provisioning kiosks, not more friction. Stephen shares what that work taught him about designing controls people embrace, and how the same principle applies to rolling out AI safely.

Long bio
Stephen Golinski is Deputy Chief Information Security Officer at Tyson Foods, a Fortune 100 food company. He leads Identity and Access Management and Enterprise Platform Security, and he plays a leading role in shaping the company's enterprise AI governance, building the guardrails that let a large enterprise adopt AI responsibly. His focus is the practical intersection of AI and cybersecurity: governed identities for AI agents and other non-human identities, controls built ahead of scale, and security that makes work easier rather than harder.
Stephen began his career at Texaco in 1990 and spent the 1990s at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., rising to Vice President of Integration Systems. After infrastructure leadership roles in financial technology and at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, he spent 17 years at Stanley Black & Decker, from 2007 to 2024, as the company grew from about $4 billion to $17 billion in revenue. He led the technology integration of the Stanley and Black & Decker merger, ran global technology services as VP of Technology Systems, led cloud and identity transformation as VP of IS Transformation, guided the workforce through the pandemic as VP of Employee Experience, and finished as Senior Enterprise Architect for Cybersecurity. He then worked as an independent cybersecurity advisor before joining Tyson Foods in December 2025.
Across his career, Stephen has paired strong security with a better experience for the people who depend on it: passwordless authentication and provisioning kiosks for 30,000+ frontline workers, zero trust identity on a global scale, M&A security integration playbooks, ISO 27001 certification and cyber risk quantification, and a collaboration strategy that let tens of thousands of employees go remote almost overnight in 2020.
Stephen lives in Northwest Arkansas with his wife, Juline, and their family. He is a member of Rotary. Outside work you will find him on a pickleball court, a bike or a snowboard.
